Remains Identified as Missing Bridgeville Resident

Remains found on a private road off of State Route 36 have been identified as missing Bridgeville resident Patricia Ribeiro, who was last seen in the area Aug. 18. She was 71.

In a news release, the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office reported that a deputy and deputy coroner responded to the scene Nov. 11 after a call came in just after 1 p.m. about skeletal remains being found by a resident.

"Foul play is not suspected at this time," the release states. "An external examination of the remains is scheduled for Thursday, November 17."

According to previous news releases, a Silver Alert was issued for Ribeiro and an initial search conducted Aug. 18 was followed up over the next two days "utilizing ground crews, trained tracking dogs and aerial support" without success.

"The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office extends our deepest sympathies to Ribeiro’s family during this difficult time," today's release states.

The Humboldt County Coroner’s Office has positively identified human remains discovered in the Bridgeville area as that of local missing woman Patricia Ribeiro.

On November 11, 2022, at about 1:10 p.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center received a call regarding skeletal remains found by a resident near a private road located off of Highway 36 Milepost Marker 31.5. Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies and a deputy coroner responded to the scene and recovered the remains. Foul play is not suspected at this time.

An external examination of the remains is scheduled for Thursday, November 17.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office extends our deepest sympathies to Ribeiro’s family during this difficult time.
