  • Blue Lake Casino has again shuttered its doors due to the pandemic.
In step with the recent, mandated closures of California's indoor restaurants, movie theaters, museums, zoos and other businesses, Blue Lake Casino again shuttered its doors on July 16, the Times-Standard has reported.

The Blue Lake Rancheria Tribe had only reopened the casino four days prior, on July 12, after keeping it closed due to the pandemic since the middle of March. According to the tribe's spokesperson Andrea Marvin, the recent closer was an attempt to "align with other businesses."

“The tribe is choosing to follow state and county guidelines,” Marvin told the T-S.

The Blue Lake Hotel remains open along with its restaurants — Alice’s, Lily Pad, and Sushi Blue. The restaurants are limited to parties to 10 people or fewer, and tables are all spaced 6 feet apart. Last week, the restaurants began serving craft booze from Powers Creek Brewery, the tribe's latest project.

At the hotel, housekeepers and inspectors have been wearing face shields, gowns and gloves during cleanings. In addition, sneeze guards are set up around the property and physical distancing stickers in the lobby instruct guests on how to keep their distance during check-in and check-out. The tribe has asked that guests ride in elevators only with their parties.
