26 Year Old Killed in Alderpoint Road Crash

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal single vehicle big rig crash on Alderpoint Road yesterday afternoon.

According to CHP, a 2019 Freight Liner was heading eastbound on Alderpoint Road, east of Wallin Road, when for reasons still under investigation it drifted off the south roadway edge and down a steep embankment. The 26-year-old driver was ejected from the cab and died at the scene.

It's unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISION ON ALDERPOINT ROAD

On October 25, 2019, at approximately 1727 hours, a male driver was driving a 2019 Freight Liner eastbound on Alderpoint Road, east of Wallan Road at an unknown speed. For reasons still under investigation, the driver allowed his vehicle to travel off the south roadway edge of Alderpoint Road and down a steep embankment. The male driver was ejected from his vehicle and succumbed to his injuries on scene. It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision.

The California Highway Patrol responded and assumed incident command. Personnel from Garberville Fire, Redway Fire, Alderpoint Fire, Cal-Fire, and City Ambulance assisted with the scene.

This incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
