UPDATE:

HCSO reports “deputies are clearing the scene” after finding no signs of the man inside the barn where he was believed to be barricaded but states there is “no perceived threat to the community at this time.”

“Due to the nature of the investigation, the fact that deputies were unable to obtain a positive identification for the male prior to him fleeing, and no response or signs of the subject inside the barn in which he was believed to be barricaded, law enforcement decided to change tactics and clear the scene,” a Facebook post states, adding that the investigation is continuing.

PREVIOUS:
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies are at the scene of a barricaded subject near Fieldbrook Road and Wagle Lane.

According to a sheriff’s office tweet, deputies were attempting to serve an arrest warrant when the man blockaded himself inside a barn. It was not immediately clear what the warrant was for. The sheriff's office has requested that Fieldbrook Fire Department stage (or gather) at their firehouse.

Fieldbrook Elementary has been placed on a “soft lockdown,” according to Principal/Superintendent Justin Wallace, with doors locked but teaching still going on.

This post will be updated as more information becomes available.

Deputies are clearing the scene. More details:
At approximately 9:54 this morning, deputies conducting an investigation into an Assault with a Deadly Weapon case attempted to contact a subject wanted in connection with the investigation at the 100 block of Wagle Lane in Fieldbrook. When deputies arrived on scene and attempted to make contact with the subject, a male subject fled from deputies. It was believed the male subject may have barricaded himself inside of a barn on the property. Deputies attempted to contact the subject for approximately one hour, with no response. Due to the nature of the investigation, the fact that deputies were unable to obtain a positive identification for the male prior to him fleeing, and no response or signs of the subject inside the barn in which he was believed to be barricaded, law enforcement decided to change tactics and clear the scene.
