Ferndale Fourth of July parade - submitted
Even if our local events are pared down a bit, there’s good reason to party this Fourth of July. There won’t be a Fourth of July Festival in Old Town this year but things will still be poppin’ with the Fourth of July Fireworks on Humboldt Bay on Sunday, July 4 at 10 p.m. (free). The city of Eureka is planning to close Waterfront Drive and First streets beginning at 6 p.m. so folks can set up folding chairs, catch up and catch the big show later that night. In Arcata, join the Fourth of July Jubilee Parade on Sunday, July 4 at noon, starting in the Creamery District and traveling to the Arcata Plaza (free). In Ferndale, an old fashioned Fourth of July Parade rolls down Main Street on Sunday, July 4 at noon with fire trucks, patriotic floats and more (free). After Ferndale’s parade, head over to the Veterans Memorial Hall for a barbecue with burgers, hot dogs and sides from noon to 2 p.m.
