Mr. Bungle Returns with Virtual Halloween Show

Posted By on Tue, Oct 6, 2020 at 4:39 PM

Depending on how big a fan you are of the Eureka-born band Mr. Bungle, maybe 2020 is balancing out. In an ominous, Eureka-heavy, black and white YouTube promo posted yesterday (see below), the band announced "The Night They Came Home," a live streaming Halloween concert featuring original members Mike Patton, Trevor Dunn and Trey Spruance, as well as "a couple of overpriced rock stars," guitarist Scott Ian of Anthrax and Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo. You can tune in at noon on Oct. 31 or watch on demand for 72 hours after that at www.mrbungle.live ($15), where you can also score merch like a T-shirts with a vomiting rabbit on it.

Drone footage of the Carson Mansion and Old Town rolls as the voiceover extolls the band's playfully padded resume and its founding by high schoolers from "a lonely town in Northern California," where you either "become a drug-addled goon or sell drugs to potential drug-addled goons." Instead, we're told, "they decided to make music for drug-addled goons." For more of Patton's tourism pitches about Humboldt, enjoy this throwback.

And so the drug-addled goons among us will be treated to Mr. Bungle returning to its "teenage roots" in the form of an R-rated remote show in support of its first album in two decades The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny, whence the tracks "Raping Your Mind" and "Eracist," which should help you decide whether or not to put down that $15.
