Have you always dreamed of being on the silver screen, your name splashed in bold letters in a dark theatre next to “Woman No. 3,” “Boy in Ice Cream Shop” or “Man Crossing Street”?

Well, your big break is here. On Sunday, June 28, several independent movies filming on the North Coast this summer are holding casting calls for a variety of extras and roles.

If you think you’ve got what it takes — as in you’re a male or female between the 18 and 50, a 50- to 75-year-old woman, a 5- to 9-year old boy or a five-foot-eleven redheaded fella between 22 and 30 — get to the Old Stewart School, 1125 16th St. in Arcata, at 11 a.m. Bring a headshot and resume if you’ve got 'em (of course you do, you’ve been waiting for this moment).

And while you’re waiting for your callback, cruise down to the Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission offices at 1385 Eighth St. in Arcata for a “Good Practices of being an Extra or Production Assistant for Movies” workshop. You want to look like you know what you’re doing when you — wait! Rewind. There! In the gray shirt.

Made it!

From the commission:

Redwood Curtain Casting will be holding an open casting call this Sunday, June 28 from 11 a.m. to 4p.m. at the Old Stewart School, 1125 16th Street in Arcata. The open call is for several SAG independent feature films filming in the redwood region this summer. Casting needs are males and females (extras) between the ages of 18 and 50; women between the ages of 50 and 75; boys between the ages of 5 to 9; and males between the ages of 22 to 30 with light colored hair (preferably red tones) and height approximately 5’11”. Redwood Curtain Casting asks that interested individuals bring headshots and resumes (if possible). For more information, email Laura at [email protected].

Following the casting call, there will be a workshop on “Good Practices of being an Extra or Production Assistant for Movies.” The workshop will take place on Sunday, June 28 at 5 p.m. at the Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission located at 1385 8th Street in Arcata. The workshop is a free public event held by Redwood Curtain Casting and the Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission. For more information, email [email protected].
